We have Shelf on an Elf in our house (rather than Elf on a Shelf). At least according to Joel since he says it wrong every time. (Love you Babe!)
For anyone without small kids around, Elf on a Shelf is a little Elf doll thing that you bring out in the weeks leading up to Christmas and the Elf watches over the kiddos and reports back to Santa every night on the behavior of the kids and whether they are being naughty or nice. You put the Elf in a different place every night and the kiddos wake up in the morning and look for their Elf. Some folks put their Elf in silly "situations."
Jingle is the name of our Elf and he first came to the Basham house last Christmas. Last year, Lily was excited to find Jingle but she didn't always remember.
This year though, Lily is ALL about it. Every morning she looks for Jingle and gets very excited when she finds him. Tyler gets in to it too. I don't think he specifically looks for Jingle, but if he sees him, he gets very excited and points and "uuuhhhhnnn's" at us to get him closer to where ever he is.
We don't push the "be good cause Jingle is watching" stuff too hard cause when Jingle goes back to the North Pole after Christmas, who's going to keep my kids in line?? "Easter Bunny on a Shelf??" "Uncle Sam on a Shelf??"
I forgot to take some pictures of Jingle's adventures which makes me annoyed. A particularly cute one where Jingle was fishing for goldfish crackers. And another one where he was in the fire place.
I'd like to think next year I'll do a better job of both remembering to take pictures and coming up with funny positions and situations for Jingle. But let's face it, we do good just to remember to move him at all!
